SPORTS MEMORABILIA, PART 3

The sidepod of Bobby Unser’s Indy car got into a disagreement with the wall at Turn Three at Phoenix International Raceway. I think the wall won.

I went to a reunion of some of the old time “Negro Leagues” players of the 30’s and 40’s. These old guys had a blast at this convention, spinning tales and reliving the camaraderie of their league. The specter of not being allowed to play in the Majors was always present, but at this event they only wanted to talk baseball. It was fascinating to just wander around and listen

Below, another reunion: the 1960 Pittsburgh Pirates, who won the World Series on Bill Mazeroski’s Game Seven, ninth-inning walk-off home run. And I lived in Pittsburgh at the time. Wish Roberto Clemente could have signed it!

A Gretzky “game” stick, an Arnold Palmer signed golf ball, a 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth card, and a Cubs flag that flew over Wrigley Field, …..well, you get the idea!
